First of all, I would like to express my deepest thanks to Dr. Ikuo Takeda and the staff of the Takeda Foundation for giving me the opportunity to receive this award. And thank you all for attending this award ceremony. My technical achievement, for which I am receiving this award, is the development of a space born precipitation radar. My contribution was the development of the simplest type of radar. Many more advanced types of radar are now being developed - multiple-wave radar, pulse compression radar, Doppler radar, polarized radar c there are many kinds of advanced technologies. I hope many young researchers rise to the challenge of developing these novel technologies. It is my great pleasure if my winning this award encourages young researchers. Successful results cannot be achieved by one person alone. I would like to acknowledge my great colleagues in the Communications Research Laboratory, and my friends, colleagues, elders and betters at NASDA, NASA and related organizations. And lastlyc I am hesitating to say this herec I would like to express my gratitude to my wife for allowing me to devote myself to my research without any restraint. Thank you very much.
